Toy Story Land - Every Adult’s Childhood Dream
Disney’s Hollywood Studios' newest themed land is now open and it’s exceeds our expectations. With the news of Disney’s newest land looming around the corner, Galaxy’s Edge, one would think that Toy Story Land would be a mere side project to appease the masses but it’s much more. It shrinks you down to a toy and plops you in the middle of Andy’s toy set, giving you the perspective of one of his toys. The land holds three attractions, a dining area and character meet and greets that are all fully immersive.
Midway Mania:
The ride is exactly same but the queue has changed around with the brand new Popsicle Wall, for all you Instagrammers out there.
Alien Spinning Saucers:
A new ride that has a queue that is very reminiscent of Buzz’s Astro Blaster at MK. The ride mechanism is identical to Mater Junkyard Jamobree at DCA. The best part of the ride is definitely the remixed versions all the Toy Story songs, the Grammy goes to When She Loved Me because they took one of the saddest songs and made it a banger.
Slinky’s Dog Dash:
My personal favorite because going into this I was expecting a ride like Barnstormer but it is more thrilling. The theming has to be my favorite part because you feel like you’re in a Hot Wheels playset with light effects and “real” flames. The coaster has the same thrill factor of Mine Train, it’s one that leaves you with laughter. Stay till the end because your favorite squeaky toy makes his breakout debut.
Andy’s Lunch Box:
Theming again is key here. The food is not the greatest but they have some tasty options like the BBQ Brisket Melt, Totchos and Andy’s favorite; all the alcohol. Okay just joking on that last one but it is a little strange that a little boy would have beer in his lunch box.
My one gripe of the land would have to be the lack of shade because there is none. With the Florida heat and humidity, you would think they would cover the entire land with awning or a shield like Wakanda. That is why I suggest tackling this land at night, plus you get to see the entire land lit up with all of Andy’s Christmas lights that he took from the attic. Overall I think Toy Story Land is a great addition to Hollywood Studios and will definitely be back to ride Slinky!
